The bedroom, a place for relaxation and rejuvenation. Or for some of us, it’s that room that we keep the door closed to because it’s busting at the seams with laundry, books, important and unimportant papers, unhung photos and what not. Today we’re sharing our top four tips for creating your very own bedroom sanctuary.
Keeping Things Minimal
It’s so important to keep your bedroom minimal in terms of furniture, decorations, and clutter. Too many things in a small space becomes burdensome. When you pair down your bedroom to only what you need it can make the space look and feel more relaxing. A bedroom is for sleep first and foremost, so any hobbies, crafts, and collectibles need to be stored elsewhere.
Take a moment and make a list of what you really need in the space and what you don’t need. Do you really use that desk or has it become a holding place for your marble collection and a place to stack clean laundry? Ask the same question about a bedroom chair, while the look is particularly trendy at the moment, the pile of clothes that will inevitably cover said chair is not.
One of the biggest benefits of keeping this space to a minimum is there are fewer things to buy. This frees up more budget and will allow you to invest in higher-quality pieces, like a TEMPUR-CLOUD® LUXE.
Which brings us to our next recommendation…
Invest In Your Bed
Invest in your bed, sleep is the most important thing you’ll be doing in your bedroom, so you want something that’s going to give you the best nights sleep. Mor Furniture has a great selection of mattresses- Tempur-Pedic, Serta iComfort and Sherwood just to name a few.
Once you’ve got your mattress squared away it’s time to tie it all together with an amazing headboard. A good headboard can really anchor the bed and the entire room. It can also enhance the entire look and feel of your room. Go dramatic with an oversized tufted headboard, the Arketipo Birch bedroom would be a perfect fit or stick with something more traditional like the Savino bedroom. Mor’s got you covered when it comes to bedroom sets.
Now on the flip side, if you want to change the look of your bed without spending a lot of money, consider investing in new linens. They can really make all the difference.
Go With a Neutral Color Pallet
We’re not shocking anyone when we say that paint color can really change the mood in a room. And we all know that painting is one of the most cost-effective ways to freshen up any room.
In order to make the most of your bedroom, you’ve got to figure out what colors you find most relaxing. Light colors tend to make a space appear larger, but keep in mind stark whites can look a little too harsh in the early morning light. If neutrals aren’t really your thing you can try going with greens, blues, purples or pinks.
Toy With Texture
While minimalism will be the key player in creating a relaxing environment you still want to keep things interesting. Texture, is a great way to add an element of surprise to your room. Plush pillows are a fun way to dress things up while still keeping with a minimal theme. An area rug around your bed is another way to add that layer of texture and keep your toes warm in the cold winter months. And don’t forget the walls are a great place to add texture, it could be in the form of a wall treatment like wallpaper or in the artwork you hang.
