Designer Series: Different Shades of Glam with Heaven Sent Design
Contemporary Glam style is one of the most popular interior design styles today. It showcases a dose of glitz balanced out with modern features, meeting today’s current trend for simplicity over ostentatious.
Jenna Lockett of @heavensentdesign is a San Diego-based interior designer specializing in contemporary, modern glam and French design. Her experience in the field has helped her develop creative ways to curate beautiful spaces while providing budget-conscious options for her clients. As the #designerseries guest of the month, we invited her to our studio to show us how to do modern glam the right way.
The Plan
Jenna brings her contemporary glam to two different looks: bold and subdued.
The Prep
Stylize two Mor Furniture favorites, combining accents from the showroom, studio props, and personal accent pieces from Jenna's own collection.
Challenge One: Peoria Sofa & Chair
The Result:
Featuring the Peoria Sofa and Chair, Jenna took inspiration from the sand color and leather texture seating to add in elements of gold, black and glass accents, making this a true modern glam look. She recommends, “when styling with one color, don’t be afraid of layering by using different pigments of the same color.” Here we see hints of light and dark golds, bronze, brown, beige and specks of black. This design approach gives balance and consistency to a room.
Challenge Two: Westerly Bed
The Result:
The second look featuring the blue Westerly Upholstered Bed took a rather sharp turn on the wild side of glam. According to Jenna, the room design was entirely inspired around the Breeda Wall Art depicting zebras in a stampede. “I always say art work chooses you,” Jenna explains. “When you look at a piece of art, I believe it should evoke a feeling and when I saw the zebra I thought, let’s take a walk on the wild side.” This look was achieved by adding bold lighting and textured pieces with hints of silver and greenery for a sensible, well-balanced bedroom design.
