Many us stayed distant or scaled down our Thanksgiving plans in 2020, so if you’re planning a big celebration for 2021 to make up for it here’s a look at our top furniture for entertaining family this Thanksgiving. From the dining table to extra sleeping for guests staying the weekend, Mor Furniture for Less stocks comfortable furniture designed to maximize your space.
Add Extra Seating
Our thanksgiving furniture guide begins with a single, important question. Do you have enough seating around your current dining table?
- Buy Something New. If you’re in the market to update your dining table, our Palm Springs Dining Table comfortably seats six people on matching chairs with leatherette cushions.
- Add Bench Seating. We offer dining benches in a wide range of styles that with make it easier to squeeze one more person in or each side of the table. The Bay Creek Upholstered Storage Bench adds a touch of class to any décor and, its two drawers with side-mount ball bearing glides, it is as functional as it is fashionable.
- Pull Up Another Table. Whether your dining table is square or rectangular, you may be able to push another table up to one end to extend seating for your guests. If you dining table is round, set up another adjacent table. Our Cannon Valley Adjustable Height Dining Table is a flexible option that won’t break the bank. It seats six people and has built-in storage for fancy china, serving ware and other Thanksgiving essentials. When the holiday is over it can retire to you game room, man cave or she-shed. If you work from home on a table desk like our Tempe Office Desk, push it up against one end of the dining table to room for more of your nearest and dearest. Our Pure Modern Sofa Bar Table can provide an additional surface for appetizers or desserts or open up three more seats for tweens or teens on the counter-height bar stools.
- Mix Up Seating Styles. As you add more table space, you may run low on chairs. Think about adding armchairs from the living room to each end of the table for a charming eclectic look or pull the table up to a window seat, if you have one.
- Create a Kids Table. It’s always a good idea to give the kids their own table (they prefer it!) using a card table, coffee table and pillows or by repurposing their play table for the day. The top of our Americana Lift Top Coffee Table easily comes up to table height, making it another flexible Thanksgiving furniture option.
Choose the Right Space for the Feast
If your dining room isn’t long enough to accommodate two tables placed end to end, repositioning the elongated table diagonally in the room. You might also want to move the dining table to the living room (maybe in front of a cozy fire?) and set up a buffet and bar cart in the dining room. Our Kailman Bar Cart in Gold would make an elegant addition to Thanksgiving festivities.
The other option, if you live in a warmer climate, is to move the party outside! Again, you can use the dining room or kitchen island table as a buffet station and savor your meal on the sun-drenched patio or deck overlooking the pool.
