Designer Series: Cozy, Comfy, Creative with Spacesbywen
Have an old dreary room that needs to be refreshed? Need a warm modern look for autumn on a budget? We welcome this new and up and coming interior designer to our #DesignerSeries, Wendy Carvalho @spacesbywen. Wendy is a San Diego local who specializes on creating spaces that elevate a dated look with new conventional modern styles. Traditionally a graphic designer, she has transitioned her skills into the interior design space to help harmonize a design fit for the environment. She brings balance into a space, cleverly curating classic designs that are both affordable and beautiful for a room or area of your home.
We had given Wendy two sets to design: Hughes Queen Sleeper Sofa in Tobacco Leather and the Gia Round Dining Table & 4 Chairs in Gray. At the get-go she was ready, prepared, and excited to show us what she was envisioning with the spaces. See how her vision came into fruition down below!
The Plan
Wendy transforms a versatile sofa bed and dining set into modern contemporary living spaces.
The Prep
Wendy styled using a variation of many different Mor Furniture accents, props from our studio and her own decor pieces.
Set #1: Hughes Queen Sleeper Sofa
From transformation to translation, she came PREPARED with a comprehensive plan of action for her design of the pieces. As a graphic designer, her attention to detail is impeccable and she had planned exactly how she needed the space to look like. Wendy took the sleeper sofa and created two distinctive styles: as a sofa and as a sofa bed.
We were ecstatic to see the first configuration with the Hughes Queen Sleeper Sofa in Tobacco Leather. The natural color of the beige and browns pop with life with the bold tones of the Lucy Accent Chairs in Navy. Her choices of colors and placements really bring life into the room. The little touches of plants and accent driftwood complement the Cannon Valley Coffee Table in Brown.
The second configuration makes the room feel versatile, if you want to use the style for a guest room or even in communal living space it is a perfect hideaway mattress. Even better is that the mattress is included with the sleeper sofa as a terrific value piece. With the sleeper unfolded the space is comfier and cozier; you can relax after a long day on the pullout truly maximizing the space. The beige rug flows well with the golden tones of the chandelier, while the Majaci Nesting Table and the Marilee Floor Lamp give off a moody vibe that feels modern yet warm. We love everything about this living room design so much that we’re putting it on our fall mood board.
