Designer Series: Embodying Modern Clean Design featuring @indieinteriorsco
The month of June brings us new design inspiration as we were joined by the fabulous duo of Leslie Spencer and Katherine Whittaker of Indie Interiors. Based out of North County San Diego, these friends and business partners create incredible spaces with dramatic style. We were instantly intrigued when they described their shared love of visual expression and the obvious bond they share allows them to practically read each other’s minds when it comes to design. The draw inspiration from organic, natural textures inspired by nature. They describe themselves as very tactile people and love to experiment with different design elements that start with touch and feel.
Products Styled:
To achieve both designs, the following two products were styled with a blend of in-store furniture accents, studio props, and Leslie & Katherine’s own accent pieces.
Room #1: Moody + Modern Chic
The Result:
For the bedroom design, we were elated when they choose a moody look with a dark green accent wall and wood flooring. The Crawford Panel Bed really came to life with paired with the Herringbone Nightstands, styled with the Jamon Table Lamp and a variety of accent pieces. A lesson that became obvious in their design was how to combine a lot of pieces without having the space feel cluttered. They encourage creating drama while staying within an earthy palate. The Adelaide Accent Chairs paired perfectly with the set-up, creating a cozy intimate space.
Room #2: Clean Lines + Neutrals
The Result:
The living space was stunning as they took the Harrison Sofa to a next level cozy comfort. Through their use of natural textures, they were able to add interest and intrigue while staying with in a pleasing color palate. The Cena Coffee Table was styled with two tiers of accent pieces including the Moises Bowl in Silver and Deus Ceramic Vases. Shelf styling is part of their expertise so they paired 3 of the Ryandale Bookcases together and filled it with a mix of accents from coffee table books, Jayden Vases, Jolina Boxes and candles. They encourage the use of mixed metals, colors and wood when styling shelves to add interest to each layer. Finally, the Amy Accent Chairs over the Aden Rug brought the entire space together.
We were tremendously grateful to spend the day with such talented designers and took away a lot of tips and tricks to create an incredibly inspiring space.
