Designer Series: Wallpaper Galore with Raveinteriordesign

We welcome the new year with Melanie from @raveinteriordesign who combines bright colors with retro funk to create amazing unique designs! We scoured through her Instagram and fell in love with her hands-on and DIY personality on interior design. She focuses on fun combination of colors on not just the furniture, but her walls! She loves wallpaper for how easy it is to use and how much it can change a room’s atmosphere.

More about Melanie: she is a mother of 3 girls, happily married, and possesses an entrepreneurial spirit. She has the type of energy we all wished we had. Her positive vibe on life and openness to new ideas is what draws you in. Having Melanie on set was a highlight and starting off the new year with her vibrant designs was a treat. Originally from Washington state, she moved down to California for school and graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego. After college, she worked at a local firm focused on rental property renovation. When she became a mother, she decided to leave the business and become a stay-at-home mom. Her love for DIY home projects and creativity never wavered. She began sharing fun DIY and design content on Instagram and has not turned back since. Melanie has created a social media following who either share the same level of bright interior designs she does, or those who aspire to pull off an out-of-the-box look and need inspiration to finally pull the trigger. With positive feedback from the online community, Melanie has turned her passion into business. She works hard but plays hard. The total dream job package of getting to do what you love, call all the shots and still have time for family and for yourself.

Melanie’s biggest fans? Her husband and daughters, hands down. They are her biggest supporters every time she comes up with a new DIY or décor idea for their fantastically designed home. Her family is a huge motivation for her to keep doing what she loves most: to create.

The Plan

We provided Melanie with the Harlow Bunk Bed w/ Trundle in White, Twin/Twin for a fun kids & teens bedroom, and the Duo Linen Adjustable Foundation Bed in Natural, Queen for an energetically bright bedroom inspiration.

The Prep

She styled each room using a blend of Mor Furniture accents as well as her own décor pieces and wallpaper.

Set #1 Harlow Bunk Bed w/Trundle in White Twin/Twin

See The Products:

One word, speechless! This fun and girly pop room is oozing with personality and style. We love the wallpaper that she brought in as it enhances the design into a whimsically playful children’s room. We, for one, would have loved to have a room such as this even as adults. The Harlow Bunk Bed w/ Trundle in White has two twin beds and a third trundle bed underneath. This bed is perfect for a weekend sleepover with your friends with plenty of space for them to sleep. Melanie decorated it with such fun and colorful tones of pinks like the Janah Pillows in Pink, yellows and oranges that blended nicely against the stark white bunk bed. One thing that is great about the Harlow is how accessible and full of storage it is. The steps are clear and easy to use, the drawers in each of the steps provide plenty of extra space. The bed also has sturdy guardrails that provide safety and style. Added was the Andover Dresser in White – Melanie did a fantastic job in decorating the top of the Andover Dresser with a lot of personality. She incorporated the Cadel Wall Shelf and was styled so adorably as this shelf is usually hung up but was placed atop of the dresser to have more vertical space. We gushed over how much fun this portion of the room made the space feel. The pictures above the dresser are so interesting and fun! She brought the lama and the girl portraits which we found to be so great in the size and positioning next to our Dude Wall Art, the boldened black words of “dude” stand out as she placed the beaded rope over the art. The art gives the room real girl boss energy and attitude. We love it!

The Galice Accent Ottoman in white sits on top of a gorgeous rug she brought into the studio. The ottoman is perfect for this room as the fluffy white exterior matches so well with the whites and pinks of the room. Then on top of the ottoman sits the Moria Tray which Melanie decorated as a great place for children to use and gather around for their activities. Then lastly, in the corner of the room Melanie brought in this cute wicker chair styled with an accent pillow and above it delicately hangs the pretty Nastalya Pendant Lamp. The lamp hangs down as a perfect reading light to relax into the comforting pillows and take a load off for the day. We love how Melanie added so many details into her design and the colors are thoroughly thought out with the mixture of warm pinks, yellows, and oranges with the cool tones of the blues. Overall, Melanie’s design blew us out of the water with how she made this children’s room so inviting and playful in its whimsical colors and fun interesting patterns that match so well together and are completely thought out. It looks effortless but at the same time deliberate in design and execution. This has been one of our favorite Designer Series rooms so far!

Set #2: Duo Linen Adjustable Foundation Bed in Natural, Queen

The Result:

See The Products:

Melanie is the Queen of wallpaper and color. This room feels like an elevated version of the former room for an older child or adult. The similar color palette of the previous room transfers so well into this new mature room. As the previous one was whimsical and childish, this room exudes a delicate femineity and grace. The Duo Linen Adjustable Foundation Bed in Natural, Queen is the center piece of this design. This bed is not only called Duo but has dual purpose in it being an upholstered bed frame with a built-in adjustable base. It looks good and functions like a recliner while you rest or sleep – more to love!

Melanie styled the bed with colorful warm toned pinks like the Janah Pillows in Pink and other vibrant pillows that reflected well against the beige headboard and the oh so fluffy throw blanket! Then the cute pink bench at the foot of the bed creates a perfect place to sit and relax. The bed up against the gorgeous wallpaper makes the room pop and moving the Nastalya Pendant Lamp over the bed brings balance to the room. The Adline Wall Art, Set of 2’s text is so artistic and lovely. “I LOVE YOU MORE, I LOVE YOU MOST” is a simple but aesthetically pleasing message to have up on the wall, especially against the wallpaper. The white and letters pop off the wall and stand out. On the sides of the bed, she placed the Bay Creek Nightstands in White for a cool and laid-back feel as the accents on top shine. Melanie created a very symmetrical design adding the Granther Table Lamps on each nightstand topped off with books and subtle greenery which makes the room look neat and tidy. A bedroom design that is simple but full of spunk – from the colorful wallpaper to the bed spread and accents used, this room is packed with personality. We loved how colorful and bubbly Melanie was in the studio! She was a joy to work with and was amazing at executing her vision. Her designs are immaculate and show her experience and great taste interior design. Brb, on our way to the wallpaper store!
