Designer Series: Space Planning with Hila Design
Hila Eli's journey into the world of interior design started with a foundation in fashion and jewelry, which naturally evolved into her own interior design business. Collaborating closely with contractors and construction business owners, she cultivated a deep understanding of space planning, color theory, and design principles. Hila's passion is to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary environments, creating beautiful and functional areas where people can truly feel at home.
In preparation for her partnership with Mor Furniture, Hila focused on aligning her design ethos with the brand's values, product lines, and customer base. She delved into market trends and the aesthetics of Mor Furniture’s offerings, crafting designs that emphasize the unique features of their products.
The Plan & Prep
To style two products and bring both designs to life, a combination of in-store furniture accents, studio props, and select accent décor pieces were carefully curated by Hila.
Room #1: Crafting Inviting Living Rooms
The Result:
Functionality & Warmth
When designing living rooms, Hila prioritizes functionality and warmth. She carefully plans seating arrangements, lighting, and focal points, creating layouts that encourage both conversation and relaxation. A cohesive color scheme, along with varied textures, adds visual interest and depth to the space.
The Monica Sofa serves as a standout piece in Hila's first room design. It highlights a blend of comfort and style, and with supportive cushions is perfect for lounging in. This sofa design serves as a stylish and durable centerpiece that promises lasting appeal. Hila added function and warmth by pairing the sofa with the Louise Accent Chairs, Bosley Coffee Table and Accent Table. To balance and complete the space, she added the Joplin Floor Lamp, Brockham Wall Art, and Luxe Shag Rug.
Currently, Hila is excited about the boho modern design trend, which celebrates vibrant earthy colors and a relaxed, vintage aesthetic. Her recent trip to Tulum, Mexico, provided fresh inspiration for integrating this style into her work.
Room #2: Transforming Bedroom Spaces
The Result:
Cozy & Inviting Atmosphere
Hila approaches bedroom design with a focus on creating restful, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environments. She carefully selects soothing color palettes and incorporates smart storage solutions. Additionally, she pays close attention to lighting and textiles to ensure that the room exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
One of her favorite collections is the gray Melbourne Panel Bed, Nightstand, Dresser, and Mirror which she admires for its sleek design and versatile color. The bed's clean lines and modern aesthetic enhance any bedroom, while its sturdy construction and comfortable headboard make it both practical and stylish. Bringing a touch of cozy to the space, Hila added the Sandra Swivel Chair and Comfort Shag Rug.
Hila’s personal design style is a harmonious blend of modern elegance and functional simplicity. She gravitates towards clean lines, neutral color palettes, and thoughtfully chosen accents that infuse personality into a space. This approach consistently guides her choices in furniture, decor, and layout, ensuring that each space feels cohesive and uniquely defined.
Personal Taste & Design Tips
A simple yet effective design hack Hila often employs is the strategic use of mirrors. By placing mirrors opposite windows or in darker areas, she amplifies natural light and creates the illusion of a larger space. Additionally, mirrors serve as a decorative element, enhancing the overall aesthetic of a room.
As for those embarking on their first home renovation or redesign journey, her advice is to start with a clear vision and plan. Define your priorities, set a realistic budget, and take time to gather inspiration. She also encourages seeking professional help to ensure that your vision is expertly realized.
